The Sandhills Open Road Challenge Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary Joe Shown of Stapleton, Nebraska, first drove the hilly, narrow blacktop road between Arnold and Dunning in 1978. A car enthusiast, Joe thought this would be a fun and challenging road to drive (a little faster) if it was closed to the public. In 2000, Joe again drove this road, but this time it was on his way home after purchasing his first Corvette. After that drive, he decided to pursue his 22-year-old idea. He knew an organization in Nevada was closing a public highway for an open road race, so why not in Nebraska? |

2010 Sandhills Easter Pageant On Saturday, April 3, at 3 p.m., Christians from the area will be performing in an Easter pageant to tell the "greatest story ever told" and celebrate Easter. A cast of over 100 performers will give witness to parts of the life of Jesus Christ from pre-birth to the resurrection. This outside performance with live animals and professional sound can help to make Easter 2010 a meaningful weekend. |
