Healthy and stout as we are, we participate in “the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to.” We wish we had a resident doctor, pharmacy, and dentist, but the truth is that our people do receive quality medical care because our award winning emergency medical technicians are trained and ready. When the call comes in, they go out, fast. We’ll put our team up against any in the country. They are old-fashioned good and new-fashioned smart about emergency medicine.
For routine care, we go to our clinic that is a satellite of the hospital in Callaway, and if they can’t solve the problem, we drive just twenty minutes to the hospital in Callaway. Beyond that we can get to the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte in 45 minutes or to the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow in 40 minutes. Other choices include the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, also 40 minutes. For specialty care we go either to the Good Samaritan Hospital or the Richard H. Young Hospital in Kearney, 90 minutes. The Grand Island VA Medical Center is 120 minutes and the North Platte VA Medical Center is 45 minutes.
