Arnold is the sort of place that ought to be dying but isn’t. Our people prefer to have fun—and they do. When you go to the café or the bank or the village office in neighboring communities and tell the person next to you that you are from Arnold, they invariably say, “That’s a good town. Those people are living.” Or some such. You never get, “Yeah, I been through there, kinda dead.” Nevertheless, it is true that in 1954 downtown parking places were hard to come by on Friday night whereas today that isn’t much of a problem. Still, there are cars downtown on Friday night, and those cars belong to human beings who are glad to live in our little corner of the universe. Events are not so much events as a state of mind, an attitude saying, “We’re going to do something.” And our ordinary people do just that. Take a look. If you are made of flesh and blood, come to our town. You’ll feel more alive. Look at our event list. No, you won’t see the slick and the glitz, the glamour or fusion cuisine, but you’ll see evidence and plenty of right-minded fun.
